Part 4 in my Seasons' Collection: Summer
Oh the bright long days of Summer! An abundance of colour and scents fill the warm hazy air. Nature sings. Fruits swell and ripen, their rich reds are perfect to use as a natural dye. I have used homegrown damsons to hand dye the natural fibres of palm raffia, to bring a delightful zing to this small yet handy basket.
 
A line of naturally dyed raffia has been carefully woven in to the base and around the side giving contrast with the green iris sibirica leaves.  Neatly sitting inside the border of willow bark is a circle of cordage woven with the naturally dyed raffia.
 
This basket is 100% natural, handwoven using willow bark which has been harvested from sustainable coppiced willow, and the elegant iris sibirica plant I love to grow in my suburban garden.
