Anita Lomas - Natural fibre weaver and basketmaker
bee on white circle.png

Anita Lomas is a natural fibre weaver and basketmaker, and the name behind much nita weaving. She weaves everything by hand, with plant fibres grown in her garden or in the local area, waiting until the end of the natural plant lifecycle before harvesting, drying and then weaving her unique creations. Anita loves to combine contemporary styles with traditional basketry techniques. She explores a variety of shapes, colour and texture to produce a variety of pieces which are both aesthetic and functional, showcasing their natural beauty.

Anita’s handwoven pieces use a variety of materials. She weaves with dandelion stems, daffodils, daylily, iris and crocosmia leaves. All have considerable strength when woven together. When strength is key, more robust natural materials such as phormium flax leaves or willow bark are used. Larger baskets are handwoven using traditional basketry skills, and are all made with quality British grown willow.
